Getting Started

Opening the Application

Launch RedditClipper by clicking the Open Web App button. The application loads directly in your browser - no installation required.

Quick Start in 3 Steps

Paste URL: Copy a Reddit post URL and paste it into the input field
Click Get: Click the "Get" button to extract the content
Copy/Export: Copy specific content or export everything as Markdown

Supported Reddit Content

RedditClipper supports extraction of:

Post Title: The title of the Reddit post
Post Author: The username of the post creator
Post Content: The main body text of the post
Comments: All comments and nested replies
Scores: Upvotes/downvotes for posts and comments

RedditClipper accepts Reddit URLs in the following formats:

Validation Feedback

The application provides real-time feedback on URL validity:

Valid URL: Green indicator with checkmark
Invalid URL: Red indicator with error message
Processing: Spinner animation while validating

💡 URL Validation TipsMake sure the URL points to a specific post, not just a subreddit
Both new and old Reddit URLs are supported
URLs are validated in real-time as you type

Content Extraction

Extraction Process

When you click "Get", the application:

Validates the URL format
Fetches the Reddit post data
Extracts post title, author, content, and score
Recursively extracts all comments and nested replies
Formats the content for clean display

Content Structure

Extracted content is organized as follows:

Post Header: Title, author, and score
Post Body: Main content of the post
Comments: Hierarchical structure with indentation levels
Comment Metadata: Author, score, and timestamp for each comment

Click any content section to copy it directly to your clipboard

Comments and replies are displayed with proper indentation

Content appears as it's extracted, no waiting for complete processing

Theme Switching

Available Themes

Light Theme: Clean white background with dark text
Dark Theme: Dark background with light text for reduced eye strain

Theme Selection

RedditClipper automatically detects your system preference, but you can manually switch:

Automatic: Follows your operating system's theme setting
Manual: Use the theme toggle button to switch themes

Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Solutions

❌ Content Not Loading

Check URL format: Ensure it's a valid Reddit post URL
Network issues: Check your internet connection
Reddit API limits: Temporary rate limiting may occur
Browser compatibility: Use modern browsers (Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+)

❌ Copy Function Not Working

Browser permissions: Ensure clipboard access is allowed
HTTPS requirement: Copy functionality requires secure context
Try manual copy: Select text and use Ctrl+C/Cmd+C

❌ Export File Not Downloading
